NORMAN — The man involved in a motorcycle wreck Sunday night was identified Monday as Jimmy W. Scott, 55, of Moore.

Scott remains in critical condition at the OU Medical Center and the accident remains under investigation. The wreck happened around 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Stella Road and Buckwood Drive.

Preliminary investigation of the accident indicated that Scott, the driver of a 2006 Yamaha VStar motorcycle, was traveling westbound on Stella Road when he approached other westbound vehicles that had slowed to make a legal, left turn onto Buckwood Drive.

According to a Norman police press release, when Scott approached the vehicles on the motorcycle, it fell to its side, critically injuring him. He was the only occupant of the vehicle. The motorcycle did not strike any other vehicles.

EMSStat originally transported the driver to Norman Regional Hospital. Norman police and fire departments also responded to the incident.

Stella Road was closed to through traffic for about an hour Sunday night due to the accident. The wreck is under investigation by the Norman/OU Police Collision Investigation Reconstruction Team.
