Damien Williams ran for 99 yards and two touchdowns while Landry Jones threw for two more in Oklahoma’s 42-36 victory over Baylor Saturday afternoon at Owen Field.
The victory lifted the 14th-ranked Sooners to 7-2 overall and 5-1 in the Big 12 Conference. The Bears dropped to 4-5 and 1-5.
The win was the Sooners’ second straight overall and fifth straight in conference play, but it was far from the dominant performance many expected. The Sooners never trailed, but struggled to separate themselves from the Bears.
Baylor quarterback Nick Florence only threw for 172 yards, but it was his legs that gave OU fits.
Florence rushed for 83 yards on 15 carries. Running back Lache Seastrunk added 91 yards and three touchdowns.
However, it was a run a by an OU quarterback that allowed them to finally seal it. Blake Bell had a 55-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter to give OU a 16-point lead.
