Body found after 11-hour standoff in southeast OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma City police have arrested a man on a first-degree murder complaint after an 11-hour standoff that ended when officers shot him with bean bags after storming his home.

Police were called to a southeast Oklahoma City home on Tuesday afternoon to check on the welfare of a 77-year-old woman. Police say the woman’s son, Gerald David Hume, refused to let officers into the home and a standoff began.

Oklahoma City television station KOCO reports that police forced entry into the home at about 3:45 a.m. Wednesday and found a woman’s body. Police haven’t released her name and or said how she died.

Police say Hume was arrested on complaints of first-degree murder and pointing a firearm at officers. Authorities did not know if he had an attorney.
