TULSA — Ralph Garza Jr., hadn’t made a college start prior to Tuesday. He’s got a lot more of them in his future after the way he dominated Oral Roberts in Oklahoma’s 3-1 victory at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
Garza (3-0) threw a complete-game three-hitter and struck out 11 to help the Sooners win their 11th in a row.
Prior to Tuesday’s start, the freshman right-hander had made seven appearances, but all had been out of the bullpen.
OU (23-4) only had eight hits, but were helped by two bases-loaded walks in the fourth inning. Max White, who went 2 for 4, had the Sooners’ only RBI from a batted ball with a double to score Jack Mayfield in the second inning. White and Matt Oberste, who matched the school record by running his hitting to 27 games, drew the other bases-loaded walk.
Gavin Glanz (1-2) took the loss for the Golden Eagles (8-16).
