NORMAN — After coming just a game short of a national title last season, the Oklahoma softball squad is picked to finish atop the Big 12 again this season.
The Sooners, who finished last year 54-10, earned all six first-place votes in the poll. Oklahoma returns three All-Americans in Keilani Ricketts, Lauren Chamberlain and Jessica Shults.
Texas was picked to finish in second place, earning 29 points to OU’s 36. Baylor, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Kansas and Iowa State rounded out the poll in that order.
The Sooners open the season on Feb. 8 against Stanford at the Kajikawa Classic in Phoenix, Arizona.
