Shinn Extra: Senior bowl productive for Jones, Johnson

NORMAN — Senior Bowl practices proved to be highly productive for Oklahoma’s Lane Johnson and Landry Jones. Johnson’s performance seems to have elevated him to a potential first-round pick. He was named the South teams outstanding offensive lineman during practices.

Jones seems to have elevated his stock as well during practice in Mobile, Ala. Throwing the ball has never been an issue for the four-year starter, but coaches and scouts have been impressed with the mobility Jones showed during practices.

"I think I've shown I'm able to move around in the pocket," Jones told the Denver Post on Wednesday. “It’s just something I've always tried to work on in the offseason, but this year, that was the one thing I really wanted to do, so I just made that my focus. I think I can extend plays when I need to now, better than I did earlier in my career."

Of course, the biggest question Jones has to answer is his decision making. Costly interceptions were a constant throughout Jones’ career. The concerns won’t go away after a couple practices. A strong performance in the Senior Bowl game on Saturday will alleviate some doubt.
