NORMAN — It’s been nearly four years since Oklahoma basketball was truly relevant. It seemed like that many years worth of pent up emotion came pouring out after the Sooners’ 72-66 victory over No. 5 Kansas at Lloyd Noble Center.
Fans stormed the court and there wasn’t much done to stop them after the Sooners’ snapped a 10-game losing streak to the Jayhawks that went all the way back to 2005.
The court-rushing had plenty of time to be planned. OU never trailed in the second half.
Romero Osby scored 17 points and Steven Pledger scored 15 to give OU (15-7, 6-4 Big 12) its first win over a top-10 team since 2009.
For Kansas (19-4, 7-3), it was the second straight game it had to make its way back to the locker room through a mob scene. The loss was the Jayhawks’ third straight.
