North and southbound I-35 is narrowed to one lane in each direction near the Oklahoma-Texas state line for construction of a new I-35 interchange at mile marker 3 near Thackerville.

Friday afternoon there were reports of lengthly delays on southbound I-35 due to heavy congestion with higher than normal traffic volumes for Easter weekend. Drivers are urged to allow extra time traveling in this area, especially during weekends and peak travel times and consider locating an alternate route. US-77 to the east of I-35 is a suggested alternate route.

The Oklahoma Transportation Commission awarded the $3.5 million contract in August 2012 to Duit Construction Inc/TTK Construction Co. of Edmond for construction of this phase of the new interchange. Construction is expected to be completed late Spring. The Chickasaw Nation is funding the project.
