NORMAN — Oklahoma’s 2013 football schedule excite most season ticket holders because of its lack of marquee home games. But you can’t accuse the Sooners of having a dud schedule coming up.
According Phil Steele, the noted author of “Phil Steele’s College Football Preview” the Sooners have one of the toughest schedules in college football coming.
The reasoning boils down to 11 of OU’s 12 regular-season opponents played in bowl games last season:
Aug. 31 vs. Louisiana-Monroe, Independence Bowl
Sept. 7 vs. West Virginia, Pinstripe Bowl
Sept. 14 vs. Tulsa, Liberty Bowl
Sept. 28 at Notre Dame, BCS title game
Oct. 5 vs. TCU, Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl
Oct. 12 vs. Texas, Dallas, Alamo Bowl
Oct. 19 at Kansas, no bowl
Oct. 26 vs. Texas Tech, Meineke Car Care Bowl
Nov. 7 at Baylor Waco, Holiday Bowl
Nov. 16 vs. Iowa State, Liberty Bowl
Nov. 23 at Kansas State, Fiesta Bowl
Dec. 7 at Oklahoma State, Heart of Dallas Bowl
