Woman injured in one-car accident

NORMAN — A woman was critically injured Sunday when her vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree, according to Norman police reports.

About 4:45 p.m. Sunday, a 2010 Mazda passenger car was northbound on 24th Avenue N.E. Just north of Jackson Drive, the  car veered off the street and hit a tree, according to a news release from Norman Police Lt. Brent Barbour of the Operations Division.

The driver, an adult female, suffered critical injuries and was taken by EMSSTAT to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Barbour said in the release.

No other vehicles or persons were involved in the collision.

The Norman Fire Department also responded to the scene to assist with medical care.

The collision remains under investigation by the Norman/OU Police Collision Investigation Reconstruction Team.

The identity of the involved subject is being withheld pending notifications of family, Barbour said.
