Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones won't play in the Cotton Bowl again.
Saturday's trip up the tunnel after the 63-21 victory over Texas was his last one. However, after going 3-0 as the starting quarterback against the Sooners’ biggest rival, you can bet he’ll make a few trips back there in the future.
“We actually talked about it last night and getting to come back and enjoy this game,” he said. “I've only been here as a player. I've never been able to come to this game without any stress and just sit back and watch it and enjoy it.”
Truth is: former players from both sides have lingering feelings about the OU-Texas game. Those who experienced a great deal of success can’t wait for October to roll around and to relive some of the memories. Those who didn’t, tend to avoid it all together.
Jones, who joined former OU quarterbacks Steve Davis and Jimmy Harris in the 3-0 club, will fall into the first category.
