The Norman Transcript
Tonight's game with Notre Dame is more than the biggest game at Owen Field in years. It has also turned into one of Oklahoma's largest recruiting weekends.
According to SoonerScoop.com, the Sooners will host seven recruits this weekend. Included in that group are Hatari Byrd (safety, Fresno Calif., Central East High School) and Stavon Taylor (athlete, Tulsa East Central High School). Both have already committed to OU. They'll be joined by Greg Gilmore (defensive end, Hope Mills, N.C. South View High School), Cole Luke (Chandler, Ariz., Hamilton High School), Lamar Robbins (Miami, Southride High School), Josiah St. John (offensive tackle, Trinity Valley Community College) and current Florida State commitment E.J. Levenberry (linebacker, Woodbridge, Va., C.D. Hylton High School).
SoonerScoop.com co-publisher Josh McCuistion believes the Sooners could get two more commitments Robbins and St. John by the end of the weekend.
" I think it's just a matter of the visit going well and them seeing the environment, " McCuistion said.
Tonight's environment is what has drawn recruits in from near and far. OU will have more than 25 prep players roaming the halls of the Switzer Center on unofficial visits. Most of those will be high school juniors.
Luckily for the Sooners this is their second huge recruiting weekend in three weeks. They were the home team for Red River Rivalry this year and could invite recruits to the game. The one difference is some of those recruits were there to look at Texas, too.
Tonight, all eyes will be on Oklahoma.
