Shinn at 3 p.m.: All hype aside, Stoops says team has a job to do

NORMAN — The hoopla surrounding No. 8 Oklahoma's meeting with No. 5 Notre Dame has engulfed Norman. ESPN's "College GameDay" began setting up on campus on Thursday morning and the game buildup is going to continue until the game kicks off at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

OU coach Bob Stoops said all of it is great for college football and for the town. But the buildup isn't something he or his team engage in.

"Sure it will be. In the end, we don't get to participate in all that," he said. "We get to go to meetings, we get to go to the practice field. We get to go back to meetings, and go back to the practice field. We have to get ready to play; that's what our job is."

Stoops added that no matter what happens on Saturday, OU will go on the road to face Iowa State Nov. 3.

"The following week will be exciting for us, too," he said.
