NORMAN — Romero Osby showed just how broad his 6-foot-8 frame truly is Monday night. The Oklahoma forward scored a career-high 29 points to lug the Sooners to a 73-67 victory over Texas at Lloyd Noble Center.
The victory lifted OU to 13-4 overall and 4-1 in the Big 12 Conference in its first ESPN “Big Monday” appearance in three years.
Forward Amath M’Baye added 15 points — three on alley-oop dunks — and freshman guard Buddy Hield added 12 to help the Sooners end a six-game losing streak against its Red River Rival.
Sheldon McClellan scored 25 off the bench to lead the slumping Longhorns (8-10, 0-5). Ioannis Papaetrou added 12 points.
The loss was Texas’ fifth straight to start the Big 12 Conference and the sixth in the last seven games.
