NORMAN — Norman North has proven all season it can play with the top teams in Class 6A. After Friday’s 76-62 victory over No. 7 Stillwater, the Timberwolves can also claim they’ve beat them.
The win was North’s fourth in a row and puts the T-Wolves into the championship game 8 p.m. today, where they will try to win their first tournament title of the season.
“Both teams shot well in the first half, but in the second half we did a better job closing out on their shooters,” coach Butch Roberts said. “We played our best game of the year today.”
Next up in the championship is Southeast, an athletic and long team. Roberts said it will be a chaotic game and success will depend on how well the T-Wolves respond to the pressure.
“It’s all about limiting turnovers and seeing the floor,” he said. “We’ve got to keep them out of the lane and off the glass.”
