NORMAN — Oklahoma’s 74-71 victory over Baylor Wednesday kept it in a tie for second place in the Big 12 Conference game with 11 regular-season games remaining.
The Sooners (14-5, 5-2 Big 12) are off to a great start to Big 12 play. It looks even better when you consider the Sooners’ five conference wins equal their total in from 2012 and 2011. They won four league games in 2010.
The next shot for a victory comes at 5 p.m. Saturday when No. 18 Kansas State (16-4, 5-2) visits Lloyd Noble Center. A victory over a ranked team is the only thing missing from the Sooners’ NCAA Tournament resume and Saturday will be OU’s best chance to get one. Also, a winning record in Big 12 Conference play has typically made teams locks for at-large berths. Five of the conference games remaining will be against teams that currently have losing conference records.
