Wednesday turned out to be a huge recruiting day for Oklahoma. After weeks of stagnation, it signed two critical junior college standouts — defensive tackle Quincy Russell and punter Jed Barnett — and received oral commitments junior college offensive tackle Josiah St. John and Houston Stratford offensive tackle Christian Daimler.
How big was Wednesday in recruiting terms?
OU’s 2013 recruiting class has jumped from outside of Rivals.com’s Top 25 three weeks ago to a Big 12 Conference best 10th today.
The Sooners have 18 commitments and still have seven scholarships to offer.
“We haven’t signed a full class yet,” OU coach Bob Stoops said on Tuesday. “It’s not like we’ve got all 25 in and we’re done and sitting somewhere. I envision us – we’re in great shape. I think we have a lot of great players and we’re working on others. We’re a long way from being in February. In the end we’ll see where it all goes.”
