NORMAN — The Norman Chamber of Commerce Crime Stoppers Committee will host their 16th annual banquet to recognize and honor public safety agencies and officers serving our community. This year’s event will be 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Holiday Inn, 1000 N. Interstate Drive.
Awards will be presented to officers from the following agencies: Cleveland County District Attorney's Office, Cleveland County Sheriff's Office, EMSSTAT-Norman Regional Health System, Norman Fire Department, Norman Police Department and the OU Police Department. In addition, Mary Abbott Children’s House will present the Wayne Martin Memorial Award.
In addition to the officers, two recipients of Crime Stoppers Memorial Scholarships will be recognized. Theese scholarships are named in honor of the late John Dutch, Norman Fire Chief of 14 years and Steve W. Cain, retired captain who served the Norman Police Department for 29 years. Eligible scholarship candidates are dependents of public safety personnel employed in Cleveland County.
