NORMAN — Oklahoma’s own Gary England will be a featured speaker at the next Norman Chamber General Membership Meeting at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 10 at Belmar Golf Club, 1025 E. Indian Hills Road.
England and a representative from the National Weather Center will discuss how the weather industry is evolving and how Norman has helped in its development, as well as what an important role a strong community can play in times of severe weather.
England worked for KWTV 9 for 40 years before retiring in July to become vice president for corporate relations and weather development for Griffin Communications, the parent company of KWTV.
Daphne Thompson is a meteorologist and the educational outreach coordinator for NOAA Weather Partners and the University of Oklahoma College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences.
AT&T is the presenting sponsor for the Meeting.
