NORMAN — Employees of McClain Bank recently joined with Chick-fil-A in Sooner Mall to recognize exemplary customer service offered by three businesses or individuals in McClain and Cleveland counties.

For two weeks in November, McClain Bank employees from the bank’s three locations in Purcell, Noble and Norman secretly evaluated the service they received from retailers and other businesses.

During the week of Nov. 18, each employee nominated a business or an employee from whom he or she had received service that met the high standards of service shared by McClain Bank and Chick-fil-A.

“Both McClain Bank and Chick-fil-A are family owned enterprises that share an emphasis on service to our customers. As a result, this partnership seemed like a natural fit,” said Donald Sherman, McClain Bank executive vice president.

“Our employees have studied the Chick-fil-A core service standards and want to encourage other local businesses to meet those standards as well,” said Charlie Sherman, McClain Bank president.

Employees at each McClain Bank location voted on the service-provider they most appreciated from the more than 40 nominees. The winners were Ace Hardware, Purcell; Terry’s Market, Noble; and Todd Maycumber, a postal carrier in Norman. Each winner received a plaque.

“Chick-fil-A was pleased to share the Core Customer Service Skills that contribute to our Second Mile Service,” said Lance Spencer, interim manager of the Sooner Mall restaurant. “We are proud to partner with McClain Bank to encourage excellent customer service from businesses throughout our area.”
