Awards part of NCVB’s annual luncheon

NORMAN — During 2013’s Travel and Tourism Week, May 4-12, the Norman Convention and Visitors Bureau will be doling out awards at our annual luncheon.

These industry awards are intended to highlight community partners who contribute to the overall hospitality experience in Norman. Divided into three categories — outstanding attraction, outstanding event/festival and outstanding hospitality — an independent panel will be selecting the recipients in April.

An outstanding attraction would be one that has made marked improvements in its facility, has a strong entertainment and/or educational value, marketing and public relations along with an overall contribution to the tourism industry.

For the event/festival category, the award recipient would be an event or festival that presents a creative and unique activity, uses an effective marketing and public relations strategy and demonstrates any improvements or enhancements from previous years. (Conferences are not eligible.)

The criteria for the outstanding hospitality award includes going above and beyond in customer service, unique amenities and other positive contributions to the Norman tourism industry.

This could be awarded to a hotel, motel or bed and breakfast or a hospitable person from any of Norman’s attractions, hotels or any entity that receives visitors. (Certified Tourism Ambassadors could earn some additional consideration in this category, so mentioning it would be a good idea, hint, hint.)

The judges will use a scoring system to select winners and/or merit awards. The panel may also award honorable mentions at its discretion.

The deadline for entering is March 29. You can request an entry form by emailing info@visitnorman.com. Entries must be prepared in-house or by the organization’s advertising agency, public relations firm or other vendor.

The CVB is very excited to be presenting this opportunity to recognize some of the city’s best hospitality partners.
