NORMAN — After having spent nearly 20 years working as a professional musician, Freeman Fiala was approached by his cousin in 2003 to move to Norman from Nashville and try a business idea. Ten years later, he’s still here.

Since 2003, Norman animals and their human partners have enjoyed poop-scooped yards, in-home pet sits, dog walks, yard baths, taxi service for humans and animals to vets, groomers and boarders, and odd job services provided by Freeman, owner and operator of the one-man business.

With the upcoming launch of a web page, freemanspetservice.com, the business hopes to garner new customers and looks forward to the next 10 years of giving pets and people better lives.

Customers have given Freeman’s Pet Service outstanding recommendations for his reliability and work ethic both in dealing with their pets and as an odd-jobber. Odd jobs have included personal shopping, house cleaning, raking, mowing, organizing, trash hauling and making deliveries.

Freeman grew up in Iowa on a five-acre farm where he tended dogs, cats, horses, cows, sheep and goats.

His parents both taught music, so he didn’t have much choice regarding his profession, but after hanging up the saxophones, he decided that working with animals would be a perfect fit for him.

The services are only available in Norman.

The motto for Freeman’s Pet Service is ”Need something done? Ask me if I can do it.”
