NORMAN — Applications will be available Monday for the 2014 Leadership Norman class.
Leadership Norman, a program of the Norman Chamber of Commerce, offers participants an opportunity to be part of a distinct leadership group. The program, for residents and area professionals, will accept applications through 5 p.m. Aug. 16. A selection committee will review the applications and select the 30-person class in late August.
Leadership Norman is open to anyone who either works or lives in Norman. Co-chaired by Jen Tregarthen, Sam Noble Museum, and Brian McPherson, Shelter Insurance, the class consists of 16 interactive sessions, spanning an eight-month period, ending with graduation in April.
Orientation will be Sept. 19. Most sessions will be hosted from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays, with six sessions taking place during the day.
Throughout the course of the program, participants attend a variety of sessions focused on community history, current community issues, leadership and self-discovery. Leadership Norman is a great way to learn more about Norman’s community and build a more extensive personal network.
Applications are available at normanchamber.com or by contacting Erica Millar at 321-7260 or email@example.com.
Health insurance plan available: Did you know you can offer your employees health insurance just by being a Norman Chamber member?
With the passage of the Affordable Care Act, many small businesses are now searching for ways to manage their employee’s health care needs. Offered through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma, Chamber Choice is a group health insurance plan that provides small businesses an affordable option. Businesses that have between two and 50 employees are eligible to participate in Chamber Choice if they are members of the Norman Chamber of Commerce.
With Chamber Choice, there is no medical underwriting. Each group offers its employees a choice of PPO and HMO coverage. Hundreds of Oklahoma businesses are currently enrolled in Chamber Choice.
“We are so pleased to be able to offer a comprehensive health care plan option to our Norman Chamber membership,” said Andy Sherrer, Chamber chairman of the board. “As everyone knows, health care can be very difficult to obtain for our small business members or for business owners that have employees with past health issues.”
