NORMAN — The Oklahoma Brain Tumor Foundation’s annual “Swing for Hope” charity golf tournament will be Monday at the Trails Golf Course in Norman. Individuals can play for $200 and teams for $800. A variety of corporate sponsorships are still available. Entry includes green fee, player gifts, lunch and after-tourney hospitality and dinner. Free putting practice also will be available starting at 11:30 a.m.

Registration for the four-man scramble will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Mrs. Oklahoma, Malorie Guilkers, will sing the national anthem. News 9 Chief Meteorologist Gary England also will help kick-off the event, along with a variety of local favorites, including former OU basketball player Kevin Bookout. This year’s tourney also will feature an after-tourney hospitality event providing an opportunity to socialize and hear a presentation from the University of Oklahoma’s neurosurgeon, Dr. Michael Sugrhue.

Dr. Sugrhue pursued OKBTF in an effort to publicize his support and educate the community of the specialized “key hole” surgery he brought to OU Medical Center. Sugrhue is the only neurosurgeon in the state, and one of the select in the world to perform the life-saving technique.
