Operation Homefront ready to help military families affected by tornadoes

NORMAN — Operation Homefront, the national nonprofit that provides emergency financial assistance to military families and wounded warriors, is helping service members and their families affected by the Oklahoma tornado. The impacted communities in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area include a large veteran and military population. Military families in need of emergency financial or other assistance due to the tornado are urged to contact the organization.

“Families throughout central Oklahoma need help. By focusing on the military families we serve every day, we hope to free up resources for our partner organizations to help as many people in need as possible,” said Carol Herrick, Executive Director of Operation Homefront’s Oklahoma/Arkansas Field Office. Herrick noted that the organization is coordinating its relief efforts with FEMA and the Red Cross.

Military families seeking assistance can contact Operation Homefront at 580-580-0772 or online at OperationHomefront.net/OKAR. Additionally, personnel from the organization’s Oklahoma-Arkansas Field office are on the ground in central Oklahoma providing expedited assistance. To date, Operation Homefront has provided assistance in the form of $500 grants to more than 200 families. Operation Homefront’s aid to military families affected by the tornadoes has been enhanced by generous support from Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Dollar Tree, and La Quinta.
