NORMAN — Baby Boot Camp in Norman is excited to celebrate its third anniversary. The program started in September 2010.

The celebration will include a special class with giveaways and anniversary specials on Baby Boot Camp classes.

The special celebration will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Sept. 27 at Andrews Park and is free and open to the public. Register by emailing

Delivered by nationally certified fitness professionals, Baby Boot Camp stroller-fitness classes combine strength-training exercises with cardiovascular drills in 55-minute sessions. Pilates, yoga and abdominal exercises are integrated to help improve core strength.

“It is hard to believe that Baby Boot Camp has been helping moms get fit in the Norman area for three years already,” said owner Sarah Smith, an Aerobics and Fitness Association of America certified personal trainer and owner. “I am excited to be sharing this milestone with all the wonderful women that have helped Baby Boot Camp become not just a great workout, but a fun support group for moms.”

Smith started this business when her son, Sebastian, was a year and a half old. He is now four and she has an eight -month-old daughter, Whitley. Working out and teaching throughout her pregnancy helped her bounce back after delivery.

Expectant mothers can participate in classes with their doctor’s written permission. Classes are taught to all fitness levels and can be modified for injury or pregnancy but also intensified for the long-term client.

“Baby Boot Camp has not only been a great place to get back in shape but has also allowed me to meet an amazing network of other moms who have been a huge support system to me,” said Debbie Heyck, who has been attending classes since its inception in 2010.

“I was looking for something to help me get in shape, have accountability and be able to involve and model a healthy lifestyle for my kiddos. I genuinely thought nothing existed to meet all of those criteria until a friend told me about Baby Boot Camp. It is exactly what I needed,” said Mackenzie Baily, who has been a client for two months.

Heyck and Baily also participate in Stollerfriends, a moms’ group that has play dates after classes and monthly Mom’s Nights Out. These are open to any moms.
