Sooners had a great run while it lasted The Norman Transcript It's about 200 miles from the Cotton Bowl in Dallas to Norman but the drive home Sunday afternoon seemed much longer this year. Less festive, too. Oklahoma football fans found themselves in an awkward pose Saturday afternoon.
After five years of winning against the University of Texas, the Sooners took it on the chin, the stomach and the knee Saturday, ending up on the losing end of a 45-12 game. We asked Texans who were seated near us what we thought was a serious question: What do you do around here when you lose? "Most of us go home," the thoughtful UT student said. "But not tonight." Saturday was the Longhorns' day. The Sooner streak came to an end in a big way. Sooner fans' expectations were not all that high this year, judging by the sprinkling of orange among the Sooner nation. It appeared more Texas fans were looking to buy extra tickets than Oklahoma fans. It was a great run while it lasted. The Longhorns have a year to brag and the Sooners can use that time to get better in time for the 101st meeting next year.
