First American Bank
opens ninth banking center
First American Bank has opened its newest location at 10731 S. Western Ave. in South Oklahoma City’s Meadowlake Farm Addition. It is the ninth full-service location for the locally owned bank. Others are in Norman, Goldsby, Taloga, Woodward, Moore, Purcell and Maysville.
The bank building was designed by Mark Krittenbrink of Krittenbrink Architecture LLC with civil engineering design by SMC Engineers of Oklahoma City. The general contractor is Precision Builders Inc. of Norman.
The bank is traditional in style and consists of 3,900 square feet of floor space, which includes loan offices, new account offices, teller stations, a vault with safe deposit boxes, a break room and workroom. There are four drive-through lanes with an additional lane designated for an ATM.
First American Bank was chartered in 1935 and is owned by the Mayes family. Jim McAuley is chairman of the board and CEO. Sharon McCoy will serve as the administrative officer. Chasity Oen, vice president, will be the lending officer for the new banking center.
President Neil P. Schemmer has announced the grand opening will be April 4. Ribbon cutting will take place at 3 p.m. followed by an open house 3-7 p.m. The public is invited for refreshments and prize drawings.

Conference July 23
The 2008 Oklahoma Data Conference will be 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 23 at Moore Norman Technology Conference Center, SW 134th Avenue and South Pennsylvania Avenue, Oklahoma City.
Cost is $25 per person. Registration fee includes materials and lunch.

Life Line Screening April 8
Residents living in and around the Norman community can be screened to help reduce their risk of having a stroke.
Life Line Screening will be April 8 at Trinity Baptist Church, 801 N. Peters Ave. Appointments will begin at 9 a.m.
The screening package includes a heart rhythm screening, checking for irregular heartbeat, which is a major risk factor for stroke. Screenings are non-invasive and easy to obtain. They help identify potential health problems such as blocked arteries and irregular heart rhythm, abdominal aortic aneurysms and hardening of the arteries in the legs, which is a strong predictor of heart disease.
A bone density screening to assess osteoporosis risk also is offered and is appropriate for men and women.
Participants can Register for a Wellness Package with Heart Rhythm for $149. All screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete.

Panera Bread, Kiwanis partner for Children’s Miracle Network
For the third year in a row, Panera Bread and local Kiwanis Clubs are partnering to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network.
On Thursday the “Kiwanis Dough for Kids” will raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network and Children’s Medical Research Institute. Panera Bread will donate 10 percent of all purchases made that day, including dine-in, carry-out and pre-orders, to Children’s Miracle Network.
Receipts must be designated to go to the Children’s Miracle Network or Kiwanis.

Loving Care In-Home Health Services in Noble honored
The Oklahoma Foundation for Medical Quality, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Oklahoma, presented a ACH Quality Improvement Award to Loving Care In-Home Health Services in Noble. The award was presented to agencies that achieved a 50 percent or more reduction in the number of acute care hospitalizations. The award was presented during a ceremony Feb. 28 in Oklahoma City.
The award was based on goals of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Home Health Quality Initiative, which established reducing the number of preventable acute care hospitalizations among home care patients as a national priority in 2005. Quality measures are reported to the public for use in evaluating home health care services on www.medicare.gov/Hhcompare/.
