Community Sports Briefs (5-17)

The Norman North girls basketball summer camp will run from 8:30 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. June 1-4 at Norman North. North coach Jeff Blough will focus the camp on teaching fundamentals of passing, ball handling, shooting form, technique, defense and developing a love for the game.

Cost is $70. Those who enroll by May 22 will receive a T-shirt. Enrollment forms can be picked up at North. For additional information contact Blough at 413-9336.

•SaberCat camp is next month

The Southmoore Lady SaberCat Basketball Camp is set for 9 a.m. to noon June 1-5 at the Southmoore High gymnasium.

SaberCat coach Mark Harmon and his staff will teach girls in sixth through ninth grades to improve ball handling skills, overall basketball fundamentals on offense and defense with individual instruction. Cost for each camper is $75. That includes T-shirt and prizes that will be awarded through competitive activities.

•Baseball camp up next

Southmoore’s baseball camps will be held June 15-19. It is open to players ages 6-14 in grades 2-7. The daily sessions will run from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. each day. Cost is $70 and includes a T-shirt. For more information, contact baseball coach Shannon Enfield at 514-4900 or coachenfield@cox.net.

Golf

•NHS to host Tee-Off

The Norman High boys soccer team will host the Tiger Tee-Off, a scramble golf tournament Monday at The Trails. Registration is set for 11 a.m. Lunch will follow. The shotgun start is at 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place teams, along with closest to the pin, longest drive and other door prizes. Entry fee is $400 per four person team. Sponsorship is also available from $100 to $500. For more information, call Brett Bowers at 360-6501.

•Clinic set at Westwood

Westwood Park Golf Course is offering a junior golf clinic that will be available to the first 30 entrants, from the ages of 6 to 17, May 20 and May 27.
