NORMAN — Assault and battery charges

Two were charged Tuesday in Cleveland County District Court with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon during separate incidents.

Christopher Ray Lebermann, 44, of Moore, was charged after allegedly hitting a woman in the back with a whip. According to the affidavit filed with the charge, the man was arguing with the woman, who told police Lebermann used a whip and a plastic stick to injure her.

The woman had swollen, red marks on her upper arm, shoulder and back, and police found a whip and plastic stick in the man’s home, the affidavit said.

Samantha Jane Milbee, 22, of Noble, was charged after allegedly striking someone with a Smith and Wesson 9 mm handgun.

Milbee pointed the gun at the victim, stabbed the person in the left elbow with a pair of needle nose pliers, threw unknown items from the residence, which struck the victim, and hit the victim with closed fists in the face, head and body, the affidavit filed with the charge said.

The incident began as an argument over a cell phone, records show.

Animals missing after house fire

No cause has been determined yet for the fires Monday at 3010 Cedar Lane and 332 Garrison Street, according to Norman fire officials. While there are still three cats missing from the home on Garrison Street, Deputy Fire Chief Jim Bailey said three other animals at the residence died. The animals that died included a dog, a squirrel and a cat.
