NORMAN — The Cleveland County Reserve Division will host a fundraising banquet at 6:30 p.m. March 13 at Belmar Golf Club, 1025 E. Indian Hills Road in Norman.
Barry Switzer, who coached the University of Oklahoma football team and Dallas Cowboys, will be the guest speaker.
Tickets cost $50 per person. Tables will accommodate eight guests and may be purchased for a $1,250 donation.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for silent auction viewing. Bidding will end at 7:30 p.m.
The reserve division will use the funds raised from the event to purchase uniforms and equipment. Reserve deputies need safety vests, hand-held radios, vehicles, uniforms and ballistic protection to keep them safe as they patrol the county and protect citizens.
The division consists of volunteers who donate their time to the department. Reserve deputies patrol the county, respond to natural disasters and support community policing activities such as parades, fairs and prescription drug roundups.
In 2013, reserve deputies worked 10,000 hours in Cleveland County.
Cleveland County Sheriff Joe Lester said reserve deputies provide a great deal of support to the sheriff’s office. Dress will be casual for the barbecue dinner.
To purchase tickets with a credit card, email Reserve Deputy Phillip McIntosh at email@example.com.
