NORMAN — Maiming charge for man who allegedly bit off an ear

A Norman man was charged with maiming after breaking into another man’s house, assaulting the man and biting off half of his left ear, Cleveland County Court records show.

Jake Colby McCall, 23, was also charged Monday with first-degree burglary and public intoxication during the Saturday incident in the 1400 block of Teakwood Drive.

Police were responding to a threats or harassment call, which had escalated to a disturbance just prior to arrival, the affidavit filed with the charges said.

When one of the officers arrived, they witnessed the victim running from the back yard and McCall chasing him shirtless from inside the fence of the backyard with an unknown object in his hand, the affidavit said.

The officer gave verbal commands for McCall to show his hands and get on the ground, and after complying, McCall was placed in handcuffs for investigative detention. Upon contact with McCall, officers observed a strong odor of alcohol on his person, red watery eyes and thick, slurred speech, the affidavit said.

Based on the information, police placed McCall under arrest and transported him to Cleveland County jail.

Boiling water results in assault and battery charge

A Norman woman was charged Monday after allegedly heaving boiling hot water toward a juvenile’s face, resulting in an assault and battery with a dangerous weapon charge in Cleveland County District Court.

Kimishia Lasha Gilmore, 21, was questioning the juvenile in her apartment in October about the juvenile talking to police about her cousin’s involvement in an armed robbery, according to the affidavit filed with the charge.

The juvenile told Gilmore he “just told the truth” and she responded by calling him a “snitch,” the document states.

“At that point during the incident, Gilmore retrieved a pot containing boiling hot water from her kitchen. She walked back into the living room area of the apartment and heaved the boiling hot water towards his face,” the affidavit said. “(The juvenile) was able to jump back so that he was not hit in the face with water but did not completely dodge the brunt of the attack. Some of the water struck his right foot, which scalded it and caused blistering.”
