NORMAN — An Oklahoma City man remained in critical condition Thursday after a one-vehicle wreck in Norman early on New Year’s Day.

Steven Ferguson was the sole occupant of a 2014 Dodge Ram pickup when the vehicle wrecked shortly after 3 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Tecumseh Road and the Interstate 35 northbound off-ramp.

Ferguson was transported from the scene by EMSStat in critical condition. Dennis Gimmel, OU Medical Center public relations officer, confirmed Thursday that Ferguson remained in critical condition at the hospital.

Preliminary investigation of the incident indicated that the pickup was traveling on the I-35 off-ramp to Tecumseh Road when, for an unknown reason, the pickup continued through the intersection, crossing Tecumseh Road, hit the curb, went airborne and landed south of the intersection.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

Norman police and fire departments, as well as EMSStat, responded to the scene. The wreck is under investigation by the Norman and OU Police Collision Investigation Reconstruction Team.
