Accomplice from Ersland’s ’09 pharmacy case gets weapons charge after shootout in Moore

NORMAN — After an alleged shoot-out in Moore last month, a teen who was involved in the 2009 Oklahoma City pharmacist robbery now faces a firearms charge.

Jevontai Cartez Ingram, 19, was charged in December with possession of a firearm after delinquent adjudication in Cleveland County District Court.

Court records show Ingram pleaded guilty in 2010 to first-degree murder and was convicted. He was 14 years old at the time of the robbery involving pharmacist Jerome Ersland. Ersland shot and killed Ingram’s accomplice during the incident.

Ingram’s firearm charge stems from his prior conviction of first-degree murder. Moore police were responding to an incident at Nottingham Apartments last month after the alleged shoot-out between Ingram and a gang member known as “Nutso,” the affidavit filed with the charge said.

Nutso went to the apartment asking who had a problem with the “Hoovers,” when Ingram told Nutso he was the one with the problem with the gang, the affidavit said. Ingram told police Nutso then walked out of the apartment after being told to take the argument outside.

At that time, Ingram said he put on his shoes and shirt, grabbed his .22 revolver and went outside to continue the confrontation. At some point after being outside on the balcony, Ingram fired his gun at Nutso, the affidavit said.

Ingram told police Nutso began firing at him first, but after processing the crime scene police found no evidence that a gun was fired outside of the apartment. The only evidence found was that Ingram had shot five times from inside the apartment, the document said.

Ingram also told police after the shooting he ran back into the apartment and continued to fire his gun toward the outside. He said Nutso was down and to the right of the staircase of the apartment he was visiting. However, police found the shots fired inside the apartment were well left of the staircase and not shot in a downward direction, according to the affidavit.
