Police searching for two male suspects

NORMAN — Two Norman banks were robbed Monday afternoon, with witnesses giving similar descriptions of the suspects at both locations, according to the Norman Police Department.

MidFirst Bank, 630 W. Main St. in Norman, was robbed around 12:30 p.m. About half an hour later around 1 p.m., Prosperity Bank, 3501 W. Robinson St., was robbed, Capt. Tom Easley said.

Norman police are searching for two males for both robberies.

The subjects are believed to be the same individuals suspected of robbing the MidFirst bank about 30 minutes earlier, according to FBI spokesperson Martinus McConnell.

At both locations, a man approached the teller counter and showed the teller a demand note. Both bank tellers complied with the demand and provided the subject with an undisclosed amount of money, McConnell said in a press release.

At Prosperity Bank, the subject placed the money in a small, black nylon duffle bag.

The subject departed both banks with the money and met a second white male subject waiting outside in the parking lot each times. Both subjects left on foot from the banks; no vehicle was seen.

A weapon was implied in both robberies, but none was seen. No one was injured during the robberies, the release states.

The first subject was described as a white male, late 40s to early 50s, about 6’ and 180 pounds. He had a trimmed salt and pepper goatee and was wearing a beige jacket, possibly Carhartt brand, a dark shirt, dark sunglasses, tan hat and had a small black duffel bag.

The second subject was described as a white male with brown hair, about 5’9” and 150 pounds. He had a slender build and was wearing a blue plaid shirt, blue jeans and a jacket with a Texas A&M logo.

The robberies are being investigated by the FBI and the Norman Police Department.

Anyone with information should contact the FBI’s 24-hour number at 290-7770. Callers may remain anonymous.

The Oklahoma Bankers Association offers a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for robbing a member bank.
