NORMAN — Reward for law enforcement vehicle burglaries

Norman Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of $1,000 for information leading to an arrest of the person or persons responsible for the burglaries of three law enforcement vehicles or for the recovery of the weapons stolen from the vehicles.

During the early morning hours Feb. 19, someone broke into three marked law enforcement vehicles — one from the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department and two from the Norman Police Department — parked in the southeastern area of Norman.

The person or persons responsible stole a Cleveland County Sheriff’s Departmental issued jacket, a Kevlar helmet, a black tactical vest and two AR-15 assault rifles with attached accessories. The rifles are easily identifiable; they both have the Norman Police Department patch engraved on the lower receivers.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Norman Crime Stoppers Hotline at 366-7867 or Det. Gary Hopcus at 366-5223.

Pursuit ends in arrest at Healthplex

After Norman police engaged in a pursuit Wednesday night, one of the suspects who fled from the vehicle was found in the Norman Regional Healthplex.

Quinshod Kayla Shaw, 23, of Spencer, was charged Thursday in Cleveland County District Court with endangering others while eluding a police officer.

Norman police attempted to make a traffic stop around 7 p.m. Wednesday after observing Shaw speeding southbound on Interstate 35, according to the affidavit filed with the charge.

Shaw led police on a short pursuit through the Journey Church parking lot, driving around vehicles and attempting to get away from police. Driving around 60 miles per hour through the west side or front of the church parking lot, Shaw almost collided with several occupied vehicles and pedestrians and children trying to enter the church, the affidavit said.

Exiting the parking lot on the south end, Shaw then jumped out of the vehicle while it was still moving and ran south. The vehicle jumped a curb and stopped between a building and a construction fence.
