Woman transported to hospital after fire

NOBLE — One woman was transported to the hospital after her home caught fire Sunday at Noble Estates Mobile Home Park.

Slaughterville Assistant Fire Chief Chris Tolson said the woman was transported for possible smoke inhalation, but that is the extent of her injuries he was aware of.

The call came in at 4:25 p.m. and the mobile home was 40 percent involved when crews got on scene. Firefighters were on scene within two minutes and extinguished the fire in about five minutes, he said.

“It was just blazing,” said neighbor LaDonna Barnard, who said she and her husband went outside after seeing the smoke. “She came out with burned hair.”

Barnard said the woman, described to be in her late 20s, was asleep on the couch and said she tried to put the fire out, but it was too big. The woman was able to get her baby and both dogs out of the home safely.

“Luckily her other kids were at their grandparents’,” said Alicia Glenn, who was visiting the park at the time of the fire.

The two women said the child’s father was gone with a friend when the fire started, but they think he took the baby and followed the ambulance to the hospital. The woman was transported by Noble EMS to Norman Regional Hospital, Tolson said.

Five Slaughterville units and two Noble units responded to the fire. The home was probably a total loss, Tolson said.
