NORMAN — The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office will modify its operation hours for fingerprinting and Self Defense Act application services starting today.

People may visit the sheriff’s office from 1 to 3 p.m. each Wednesday and Thursday to turn in SDA applications and be fingerprinted for various reasons. CCSO will not process applications or fingerprint individuals on federal holidays or Thanksgiving week.

Sheriff Joe Lester said his department has seen a decrease in the number of SDA applications in recent months.

At the beginning of the year, employees processed about 100 applications a week. In the last several months, the number has dropped close to 40 in a week.

“Earlier this year, we increased SDA processing and fingerprinting hours to meet the high demand,” Lester said. “By early summer, the number of applicants began to lower. After examining the statistics, we decided to reduce application and fingerprinting times.”

The materials needed for processing SDA applications and fingerprinting services can be found at ccso-ok.us.
