Slaughterville man charged with first-degree arson

NORMAN — A man arrested over the weekend on suspicion of setting his trailer on fire was charged Tuesday in Cleveland County District Court.

Jason Cannon, aka Jason Srejma, 32, of Slaughterville, was charged with first-degree arson, feloniously pointing a firearm and malicious injury to property over $1,000.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the fire marshal who investigated the cause of the fire at Cannon’s home determined it to be arson. Cannon lived there with two other people, one of whom he got into a verbal confrontation with before they left and he allegedly set fire to the home, the affidavit stated.

“During phone calls and voice mail, Jason Allen Cannon did threaten and then admit to setting the mobile home on fire,” the document stated.

The fire marshal said during his investigation, it was his opinion that the cause of fire was “the ignition of available fuel source materials located in and around the south living room wall.”

At the scene, the fire marshal also observed a vehicle with physical damage to the rear windshield, driver’s side rear and driver’s door windows. A concrete cinder block also was sitting in the front driver’s seating area, the affidavit stated.

The vehicle was identified as belonging to the other occupant of the home that Cannon allegedly got into a verbal confrontation with. The woman said in an interview that she left the home for the safety of her children and herself.

According to the charges filed, the damage to the car caused a loss valued at more than $1,000.

The other charge Cannon is facing, feloniously pointing a firearm, did not involve either of the two people he had been living with.

According to an enhancement page filed with the charges, Cannon previously pled guilty to possession of controlled dangerous substances on June 2, 2011.

As of Tuesday, no bond amount was set for Cannon and he remained in custody at Cleveland County jail.
