OKC man turns self in, bonds out of jail

NORMAN — The Oklahoma City man charged Tuesday for possession of a weapon on school property turned himself in Wednesday afternoon.

Mark Thomas Brim, 57, turned himself into authorities around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and bonded out shortly after. His bond was set at $5,000.

Court documents state that Brim, the husband of a teacher at Plaza Towers Elementary in Moore, forgot the gun was in his back pocket when he visited the school Sunday to help his wife, an IT tech, with computer problems.

Brim said the gun must have fallen out while he was seated in the chair. Court documents state he had picked up his gun from his residence to place in his bedroom in preparation for guests that evening.

He didn’t realize the gun was missing until after his wife called him and told him the school was on lockdown due to a loaded gun being found on school grounds.

Brim then realized he never placed the gun in his room and believed the gun found to be his, documents state.

Brim positively identified the gun as his and advised he would never intentionally take his gun onto school property. Court documents state he has an expired conceal carry license.
