Stolen truck dumped in lake

NORMAN — Reports of a vehicle sinking into Lake Thunderbird by an unknown witness sent rescue crews scrambling Wednesday.

A sunken GMC pickup was eventually located under water. Authorities contacted the owner, who had reported it stolen. The truck was located at Denver Corner Boat Ramp.

The report came from an anonymous phone call.

The Park Ranger and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol responded to the scene. The Norman Fire Department also assisted. The NFD used a winch on a brush truck to pull the pickup out of the lake.

Thunderbird Lake Ranger Casey Fox said no one was injured, and the owner has been notified that the vehicle was recovered. The matter is under investigation.
