NORMAN — A Norman man was charged with animal cruelty earlier this week after allegedly drowning two ducks in acid.
Alexander Joseph Clay, 22, apparently had an argument with his mother. Later, when she wasn’t home, he drowned a baby duckling and an adult mother duck in acid, killing them, according to an affidavit filed with the charge.
When Clay’s mother came home, Clay became violent, grabbing her and throwing her against the wall, the affidavit states.
“(Clay) stated that if she would have been home last night that it would have been her instead of the ducks,” the document said.
When police questioned Clay about the ducks, he didn’t say anything but just “dropped his head and shook his head,” the affidavit states.
Police arrested him on a complaint of animal cruelty and threatening serious bodily injury or death.
