NORMAN — A 52-year-old Norman man was charged Wednesday with two counts relating to child sexual abuse in Cleveland County District Court, but police believe he fled the state.
Kervis Paul Nevels was charged with rape by instrumentation and lewd or indecent acts to a child under the age of 16. The victim was a 12-year-old girl, according to charges filed.
The affidavit filed with charges said the girl told a school counselor that she had been sexually abused. She was then forensically interviewed and disclosed what Nevels had done to her.
The victim’s mother then “conducted a controlled call” to Nevels in which he admitted to sexual acts with the girl, the affidavit said.
Nevels is then believed to have fled the state, the document states.
