NORMAN — Thunderbird Clubhouse recently honored Cleveland County Undersheriff Rhett Burnett for his contributions to the organization and community.
Executive Director Pam Sanford presented Burnett with the Volunteer of the Year award at the agency’s annual meeting April 16.
Thunderbird Clubhouse helps adults recovering from mental illness. The organization provides housing, employment, education and social resources.
Sanford said Burnett was recognized for officiating memorial services for clubhouse members who died.
“He has brought solace and peace in times that were difficult when members passed away,” Sanford said.
Burnett said it’s an honor and privilege to have had the chance to be involved with Thunderbird Clubhouse.
“I am humbled by this award,” Burnett said. “I just want to say ‘thank you’ to all the people who partner with clubhouse members and those who help financially support the life-changing work being done at the clubhouse. These people are changing lives every single day, and they are the ones who should be acknowledged and honored.”
