NORMAN — Three Norman residents were arrested Monday night after police located the vehicle they were in, which was reported as stolen, near Homeland on Lindsey Street.
Alexandria Marie Austin, 22, William Charles Lewis Campbell, 20, and Heath Lowell Gates, 27, were arrested and booked into Cleveland County jail on complaints of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possession of controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm while in commission of a felony.
Gates also was arrested on a complaint of obstructing an officer.
Norman Police Lt. Brent Barbour said Monday night, dispatch received a call advising of a stolen vehicle in the area of State Highway 9 and 24th Avenue Southwest; officers soon located the vehicle. The officers then made contact with it in the 1800 block of West Lindsey Street.
A witness who saw police approach the stolen vehicle Monday night said police had their guns drawn and several people were holding their hands up through the car windows.
The witness said she saw about three police cars behind the car, with another police car on the way around 6:45 p.m. Monday.
The vehicle was confirmed stolen out of Oklahoma City.
Two arrested for disturbing a disaster area: Two people were arrested on suspicion of disturbing a disaster area and possession of stolen copper on Monday afternoon.
Kathy Bea Butler, 50, of Choctaw, and Eddie Harold McManus, 59, of Midwest City, were both arrested at 4980 156th Ave. NE on complaints of disturbing a disaster area, possession of stolen copper, possession of controlled dangerous substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
