Shooting in west Norman injures one

NORMAN — A man was transported to the OU trauma by EMSStat after being shot while in his vehicle Tuesday evening at an apartment in west Norman, according to Norman police.

“We began getting calls about 7:31 of shots fired in the vicinity of the Cedar Lake Apartments on the 4100 block of West Main Street,” Capt. Tom Easley said.

Shortly after the gunfire reports, a call came in from the Raising Cane’s restaurant at 36th Avenue and Main Street. The victim had driven himself six blocks to the restaurant to seek help.

Police are not releasing the name or other details about the male victim but said he was apparently driving a white GM SUV at the time of the shooting.

He was conscious and appeared to be doing OK when he was transported to the hospital with a single gunshot wound.

“We have detained one person, but we have not made any arrests,” Easley said. “The investigation continues. We don’t think the shooting was random.”
