NORMAN — Two men were charged Monday conjointly with an unknown male after they allegedly assaulted and burglarized a Moore man in his home Thursday.

Eric Bernard Logan, 32, of Oklahoma City, and Joseph Lavon Jenkins, 22, of Moore, were charged in Cleveland County District Court with first-degree burglary and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Jenkins also was charged with knowingly concealing stolen property.

Moore police responded to a man with a weapon call Thursday at a Moore apartment complex at 821 NW 23rd St., where police made contact with the victim.

The victim told police he heard a knock on his front door, and when he opened it, Jenkins hit him in the face with a closed fist and entered his residence with Logan and another male, according to the affidavit.

The victim then saw one of the men pointing a handgun at him and told him to step back. Jenkins and Logan began hitting and kicking him and hit him several times with the handgun while he was on the kitchen floor, the affidavit said.

The victim told police where Jenkins resided, and another officer was about to make contact when Jenkins stepped out of his residence. Police told Jenkins to put his hands in the air, but Jenkins ignored them and went back into his residence, locking the door, the affidavit said.

Police then knocked on the door, identified themselves and kicked in the door due to the circumstances, the document said. When Jenkins was walking from his kitchen area, officers told him to step outside and searched him while other officers entered the residence, the affidavit said.

Officers then searched Logan and another man, cleared the residence and took photos of Logan, Jenkins and the other man. The victim was transported to Moore Medical for his injuries. When police showed the pictures to the victim, he positively identified Logan and Jenkins as two of the men who assaulted him.

After searching Jerkins’ residence, police found a handgun lying on a shelf in the refrigerator. Dispatch advised that the handgun had been stolen out of Midwest City.

Both Jenkins and Logan are in custody at the Cleveland County Justice Center, Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Meghan McCormick said.
