NORMAN — A man was taken into custody by Norman police at 3:31 p.m. today after he reportedly threatened himself and others.
A SWAT team was deployed to 1617 Farmington Ave. at 1:15 p.m., and Norman police officers blocked off Farmington and Beverly Hills after a man reportedly barricaded himself in his home with firearms.
“We received a call from a third party that a male occupant of that address is making threats to harm himself and others and is under the influence of alcohol and drugs,” Capt. Tom Easley said.
Easley said the “others” threatened by the man were police officers.
Police negotiators worked for a peaceful resolution. No one was harmed during the incident. Easley said the man will be evaluated. An ambulance and a fire engine also were deployed.
