NORMAN — A Norman dog training organization is looking to expand their membership in the community.

The Krieger Working Dog Club provides training services for those interested in working dog sports. Members primarily train in Schutzhund, but other main breeds that participate include German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, Rottweilers and Dobermans.

The club trains dogs in tracking, obedience and protection along with some minor agility-related phases in obedience routines.

The training director is Perry Settle, a former Norman Police officer on the K-9 unit. Settle has cometed in Schutzhund for many years.

The Krieger Working Dog Club is not sponsored or endorsed by the Norman Police Department. The only relation is the training director, and they also allow K-9 officers to train with the organization. The club does not train dogs to be personal protection dogs.

Members pay $100 a year. This provides training in all three phases, along with the expert training advice members of the organization have acquired.
