NORMAN — Residents who routinely use West Lindsey Street — and there are many of us — will be interested in attending a public meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Sooner Legends Inn and Suites, 1200 24th Ave. SW.
On the agenda is the plan to widen and reconstruct Lindsey Street from 24th Avenue Southwest to Berry Road. It’s a multi-million dollar project that will coincide with the reconstruction of the Lindsey Street overpass.
The impact to area residents, businesses and all motorists will be significant. Besides widening from 24th Avenue Southwest to Berry Road, the project includes replacing the Imhoff Creek bridge and addressing storm water flooding that has plagued the Lindsey and McGee area for decades.
Voters approved the project. The design has been the subject of much discussion and input from stakeholders. Construction will be painful, but the end result will be a safer, more efficient transportation corridor.
